Secret Gardens Of London

The Secret Gardens of London guided tour is an exclusive and  small group guided walking tour designed for garden lovers, parks aficionados and lovers of flowers. If you have seen quite enough of Big Ben etc. then this tour which takes you to some of London’s hidden beauty spots may be just what your heart yearns for!

The tour starts at St. Martin in the Fields Church (front steps) on the east side of Trafalgar Square and from there, we visit the nearby St. Paul’s Artist Church designed by the talented Inigo Jones with its adjoining rose garden. From there we head up to the delightful Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London’s largest square designed in the early 17th century. Adjacent is the amazing John Soane’s Museum, home to many beautiful things including some lovely garden statuary. Soane was a Victorian architect ( eg. Bank of England ) and his design genius is apparent in his eclectic house. He was also a dedicated collector of antiquities. We normally take a tea/coffee break at the Square’s charming cafe. A short walk away and we are into the law courts and the Temple gardens, where we find the shaded fountain made famous by Charles Dickens ( from his novel Martin Chuzzlewit).

We then take an iconic London black taxi to the historic Chelsea Physic Garden, established in 1673 where they have a marvellous selection of apothecary plants and flowers – and more. The Garden is unique in London and has a fabulous assortment of medicinal plants.

We are now more than ready for a delicious English afternoon tea, which is conveniently located nearby. We conclude our tour by returning guests to nearby Sloane Square or alternatively leave guests at their leisure in the Physic Garden.
