Our unique small group Law in London guided tour is ideal for lawyers, for fans of “ Rumpole of the Old Bailey “ or indeed anyone with an interest in the history of London. Fun and educational! So come along with us on this charming half day walking tour of the Inns of Court, Royal Courts of Justice, Old Bailey and the British Law Society.
We visit the impressive Royal Courts of Justice ( where the tour begins ), which represents the 19th Century vision of British justice, and the Rolls Building – its 21st Century equivalent, where litigants from around the world come to resolve their disputes. In between, you will be our personal guests at The Law Society, with a visit to the historic library and Reading Room. The tour includes seeing the world famous scales of justice atop the Old Bailey, where cases such as Lady Chatterley’s Lover were heard. We visit the haunts of Rumpole of the Bailey, visit the cloisters where Prime Minister Tony Blair got his start as a young lawyer and see the 12th Century Temple Church famous for its scene from Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code. We visit three of the four Inns of Court – including where John Donne, contemporary of Shakespeare, gave his famous sermon which included:
” No man is an island . . . therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee. ”
We complete the tour at one of the lovely historic pubs ( eg. The Knights Templar ) where lawyers frequent and tour guests are treated to a glass of fine British ale. Each tour guest also receives a personal copy of England’s famous Magna Carta.
